Play Your Own Game

“For what avail the plough or sail, or land or life, if freedom fail?” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

By Pamela Coleman Smith - a 1909 card scanned by Holly Voley

The striking thing about The Devil tarot card is that the chain around the necks of the people are loose. They are free to remove them, but they don’t.

Play Your Own Game, Not Theirs

If you are to become free then you need to recognize the conditions that you currently find yourself in. It is easy to get caught up in all of the hype around modern ideas of insanity mostly propagated by big media, pharma, banks, government…the list goes on. You see, their is a psychological war that is happening right now and has been happening since time immemorial. It is a war for your attention and your cooperation. Think about how attention is gotten in this day and age. Think about the absurd news headlines and flashy/sexy click bait images. Think about the controversial topics being shout out into the world haphazardly with a metaphorical bull horn, packaged in political ribbon and bow, demanding that you stir up your own emotions about the thing and pick a side; WELL ARE YOU BLUE OR RED?! HARD OR SOFT COOKIES?!

Listen… I like all cookies.

You are a fish in the water that doesn’t know it is in water. You’ve lived in the stream your whole life. You watch bugs and debris flow toward you downstream and you consume what comes your way. It is not until you pull yourself out of the stream that you realize you were even in it. It turns out that it wasn’t even a stream but a tank in a fish farm. There are things adding the food to the tank that you were consuming this whole time. You realize the conditions of the game you were playing, and it wasn’t real and it wasn’t yours. You look down at the fish still in the tank oblivious to what is above and around. You say, man I was stupid…how did it take this long to realize I was down there this whole time? You begin to pity those still down their and you want to pull them out to be with you. What you find though after trying is that they want to stay down there! They are content swimming about in murky water, having their “food” float down to them each day.

Now, if you’ve gotten to the stage where you’ve “pulled yourself out” of the analogical tank, you can begin to play your own game. You can exercise your own will. Do so wisely.

Go ahead, break the chain.

Carry the Torch.
